Ecovillages and Cohousing
Sustainable development
Earthsong areial view
I spent the 90s studying Planning at Auckland University, and working on Earthsong Eco-Neighbourhood. With 32 cooperatively designed homes, rammed earth construction, solar water heating, on-site water management, and more, its a world class example of sustainable settlement.
Now, convinced that civillisation is on a collision course with ecological and economic realities, I have downsized and returned to the country. Getting some fresh air doing permaculture and working on organic farms. Back in the 80s Mollison said that Permaculture was about saving the world by going home and gardening. In the 90s we called it ecovillages, now we are calling it transition towns. Go figure.
